Home security cameras are used for taking extra measures of safe guarding not only of your property but also your family. Having a surveillance system at home does not necessarily mean you have expensive things to keep secured all the time, but it is also for your own protection and the security of your loved ones.

Having a home security system with cameras offers a handful advantages. It provides extra security to your family thus, protecting the interests of your loved ones. It keeps your property (home, equipment, and other valuable things) safer. It can also help to monitor your children to make sure they get the proper care they need and to ensure they are safe. Home surveillance cameras make you able to see the activities happening in and out of your premises all the time. It is the best tool to capture any unusual activities, intruders or burglars.

The ceiling is an area where a security camera is commonly installed because the camera is able to cover a wider scope. Surveillance cameras are also found in hallways. You can also point the direction of your cameras at the door and window areas from inside. They can also be positioned outside your home and point the cameras at the doors located outside including the garage doors.

Security systems come in several varieties. They are all unique and serve different purposes. In choosing a security camera, select what is best suited to your needs. You should pay attention to every detail and its features. Know how it works and its options.

As the name implies, a wireless home security camera has no wires or cords attached to it that is why it can easily be installed anywhere. It is available in different forms and sizes. Smaller cameras can be installed unnoticeably. Any object bigger than the camera is a potential medium you can use to hide or disguise your camera.

Mini security cameras are usually wireless cameras. They can easily be hidden because they are small. But their small size does not reduce their efficiency. The board camera is one type of mini camera. The small camera is fixed and mounted on a circuit board. These cameras are available in either pre-mounted or un-mounted configurations.

Some surveillance cameras can be used during day or night. These cameras allow you to see even in the dark because of their infrared models. Your PC can be used in monitoring the activities captured by a remote security camera. Some of these cameras have a pan/tilt/zoom function which gives the user an option to remotely control the camera.

Installing an outdoor security camera can be comforting knowing that you are safeguarded all the time. Buying them can be very expensive but it also depends on the options you choose. Two of these options are the weather proof and the infrared night vision security camera. Infrared lenses can be found in night vision cameras allowing you to see in the dark. Even in total darkness, they are capable of having quality vision and they can shift from black and white to colored images.

Whether you install your security cameras inside, or outside, or go with a wired or wireless configuration, having these cameras installed will ensure that your family and valuables are provided an extra measure of safety and security.

There are many reasons to choose wired security cameras and many reasons to choose wireless security cameras. The things you should consider when it comes to choosing to go wired or wireless should include the size of your home or property, the placement of the cameras, and the cost. Wireless systems are becoming more affordable all the time, but they also tend to be a little more expensive than a wired system.

Another thing to consider is the distance of the wireless signal being transmitted. Some wireless security cameras have a one hundred foot signal limit, while other systems can go up to one thousand feet. A wireless system with a long signal is very convenient because you can place them in many different, hard-to-reach spots, without worrying about wires or cords. This means you can have your cameras in areas that don’t have the proper outlets for the alternative wired systems.

But wireless security cameras are not the only option, or always the best option. A wired system also has many benefits. For one thing, wired cameras tend to be more cost effective. For another, you never have to worry about dropping the signal or suffering from interference and other complications. You also do not have to worry about something obstructing or otherwise negatively affecting the signal. Wired systems can be placed almost anywhere a wireless system can be placed, and there are ways to hide the cords and wires that are attached to the wired system.

In summary, take a broad view of your goals with your surveillance system before you choose to go wireless or hardwire your system. Be sure you understand how the cameras will be installed and if they will work in the areas you need them. Finally, be sure to do a quick cost comparison to ensure you are not spending money needlessly, simply for convenience.

Hidden surveillance cameras have evolved from devices limited to the rich and famous, into affordable items for the average person. If you want to take care of your family, even when you’re away, install surveillance systems in your homes.

About twenty years ago, when people were asked if they would ever install hidden surveillance cameras in their home, they usually brushed the question aside, or they would tell you that such devices were only good for mansions, business establishments, and for the movies! But who could blame them? Twenty years ago, surveillance systems were much too expensive for the average Joe, not too mention too technical and complicated.

Why Surveillance Cameras Are Suddenly So Popular

Today, with the rapid advancement in technology, companies have been able to develop affordable surveillance systems so that almost every home is secured and equipped with one. They have also managed to simplify these devices so that you would not have to hire computer technicians to install the surveillance systems in your home.

But there’s another reason why surveillance systems have become so popular. Unfortunately, it’s the rising rate of crimes in homes. People are learning, through stories of crimes and unsolved cases shown by the media, that if they want to keep your family safe and have justice served, they need a surveillance system in their homes.

Among the most popular surveillance device is the hidden surveillance cameras. These covert cameras work by recording every movement in your home without letting everyone know that they are being watched.

Different Surveillance Cameras

These hidden surveillance cameras come in many different and unsuspecting forms. Among the most popular are the teddy bear, radio, and the wall clock. These are everyday items that blend in easily in any room. You can place one in the bedroom, in the kitchen, or in the living room, and nobody would know these were recording their every move.

Why Parents Rely On Hidden Surveillance Sytems

Most parents choose hidden surveillance cameras to monitor their babysitters and their kids while they are away at work. Time and time again, stories of robbery, child abuse, and molestation feed the media. And every story runs along the same line – parents leave their kids to harmless-looking babysitters and later find out that these harmless-looking nannies are really child molesters or abusers or thieves.

If you want to know how your kids are being cared for, you will definitely need surveillance cameras installed in your homes. Put these in places where the nanny usually interacts with your kids – the living room, your child’s bedroom, and in the kitchen. If you want to be extra cautious, you can even place one in every part of your house.

You might think that these cameras will only be useful in providing footages you can view when you get home or in producing the evidence you might need after crimes have been committed. Yes, they will definitely give you the evidence you will need to have the perpetrators sent to jail, but these cameras can most definitely keep untoward incidents from happening.

As long as you have access to the Internet in your office or wherever you may be while away from home, you can check on the video footages recorded by your hidden surveillance cameras any time of the day. So when you see something bad happening, you can immediately call the police or drive home to rescue your kids.

Cameras are your eye in the sky and will serve you in the day and night depending on the cameras machinery. Most outdoor and indoor cameras operate under normal light and will give you the best quality when light levels are within the predetermined LUX level. Light levels are usually measured in LUX and although full daylight can be around 10,000 LUX, dusk can be as low as 1-10 LUX, complete darkness is 0 LUX and side street lighting can also be less than 1 LUX in some cases. The closer a camera is rated to 0 LUX the better its performance in low light levels. Considering a camera that has a low LUX level will enhance your system, so it can record 24 hours a day and then be viewed on a CCTV monitor.

A CCTV Monitor for a surveillance system invariably gets switched with an LCD television to capture images. This is okay as long as you do not want high quality images. Recent advancement in televisions has us viewing our programming in LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) or Plasma. CCTV monitors work under the same conditions; horizontal and vertical lines present an image, but these lines vary from 380 horizontal lines in black in white to 720×480 in LCD televisions. A monitor for security purposes are in high definition 1920×1080 which ensures that the image is adequate enough for viewing surveillance from a DVR.

The Standalone DVR is a storage unit for all motion captured from a surveillance camera. Depending on the amount of cameras will determine how many channels are needed for that DVR. When the cameras are connect to the DVR an operator has the ability to set preferences like automatic recording, motion activation, search capabilities and transferring data to a DVD. Internal components like the HDD and CPU allow for huge amounts of data to be recorded and processed efficiently. With the right compression for reducing heavily pixilated video results in a DVR that digital records and completes an overall home security system.

Everybody knows home security is important, but a lot of us put off dealing with it until it’s too late, until we’ve suffered a break-in. The best way to protect your home and your family, however, is to think home security long before we have a problem. You need strong doors with updated locks (always change the locks after you move in, as you don’t know how many copies of the old keys are out there), sturdy lockable windows, and you may want to consider an alarm and even exterior security cameras–especially if you are away from home a lot.

That’s right, security cameras are not just for shopping centers and multi-million dollar mansions. Prices have come down a lot, and just about anyone can afford a surveillance system. It’s a smart move too.

Security cameras visibly installed on a home’s exterior provide deterrence to would-be criminals, and don’t require large expenses. This is an excellent fact for homeowners who are seeing increased numbers of robberies in their neighborhood.

Home surveillance systems used to cost thousands of dollars, but fortunately that is no longer the case. Introductory security systems with a single, basic camera can be bought cheaply at most major retail store with an electronics department. Even systems with two waterproof night-vision cameras/speakers and a small monitor to connect them to cost approximately $100.

There are other reasons to consider security cameras. Lowered rates on homeowner’s insurance are always a possibility (make sure to ask your agency), and that alone could cover the cost of the cameras over time. Personal systems also don’t bring the attached monitoring costs that advertised services do.

Attaching a VCR to one of these systems can bring increased peace of mind because, if a crime occurs, you may have the criminal on tape, ready to turn over to police. Separate security VCRs exist with tapes that need to be changed once every 24 hours. You can also get cameras that download the footage to your computer.

Choosing a camera system takes planning, so be prepared before you shop. Power outlets must be available, unless you want a battery-powered system and are willing to handle the additional expense of the batteries. Then there is the time necessary to change them. The work required to install an additional outlet would likely be worth the time, assuming your home doesn’t have any outlets near entrances already.

Before choosing to install a system, you must also decide how many entrances you want to cover, and purchase enough cameras for them. Large bay windows may also merit their own camera in addition to the obvious doors.

Technophile owners may also choose a more advanced system, such as those produced by X10. Automated systems can integrate with other home security systems and add other features. Many of these packages can call pre-set numbers and deliver a message to them when a break-in is detected. With such an advanced system you may be able to provide equivalent functionality to ADT and other providers without a recurring cost because the system can call you, a neighbor, and 911 automatically. That’s a tremendous benefit if you’re monitoring a vacation home or you travel a lot and worry about something happening to your main residence while you’re gone.

Everyone should have a home security plan, and as you can see, there are many reasons to consider security cameras as part of that plan.
