The subject of home security is very important and should be given plenty of advance thought regardless of whether you live in an apartment or house that you own. You want to be sure that your possessions and personal safety are well protected at all times. All of the best home security measures in the world cannot help you after a crime has been committed. They can only be of use to help prevent the crime in the first place. So here are some simple ways to help increase your own personal safety:

* Install a home security system that can monitor all of the entry and exit areas of your home and sound a loud alarm if someone breaks in. If you happen to live in an apartment where you are not allowed to run wires through the walls, you can get a wireless home security system instead that will still do the job and has the advantage of being able to be removed and taken with you when you find a new place to live. Because of being wireless, these kind of security systems can also be very easy to install by the average person and they are inexpensive as well.

* Get a watchdog that will bark when someone they don’t know approaches the home. It doesn’t even have to be a big or ferocious dog at all, just one that makes noise when it feels threatened by a stranger. This one simple tip can be incredibly effective in protecting your personal safety as most criminals that have bad intentions do not want to have to deal with the loud noise and attention that a vocal dog can cause. They would rather choose an easier target instead.

* If you have valuables that are very expensive, it may be wise not to keep them at home at all. You can rent a safety deposit box in a bank instead for such high dollar or high value items. For other valuables you may want to consider a home safe as this lessens the possibility that a burglar can get at your valuables quickly and leave undetected. Speed and stealth are very important to home burglars and anything that you can do to slow them down improves your chances of protecting your valuable items.

* Lastly, always keep home security in mind. The best home security system won’t help you if you forget to turn it on. Likewise, you are only inviting trouble if you forget to lock your doors and windows at night. Hiding a key in close proximity to your front door is a way to allow intruders easy access to your home. So just try to think about home security as much as possible and make it part of your routine to actually use the home security equipment that you have, and practice safe home security measures as part of your daily life.

If you plan in advance for increasing your personal safety and then carry out your plans on a daily basis you will greatly improve your chances of keeping both you and your possessions safe and protected.

Home security camera systems can be a good way to monitor your surroundings, however, the options available on a home security camera can be frustrating to sift through in order to find the best system for your needs. People have different reasons for wanting a home security camera in place.

There are those that find a security system necessary in order to be a more participating entrepreneur, while others feel like they need the benefit of a home security camera. Whatever your reasons, all security systems can be costly, so make sure to sit down and assess your budget before investing in camera for personal or professional use.

The first kind of home security camera is known as a dome camera. Obviously, this camera comes in the shape of a dome and it fits conveniently on the ceiling of your home or business. You will find the dome cameras often times in casinos where they are used to monitor the tables. You will also find home security at its most fashionable with the dome lens.

There are dome cameras that can be placed outside, however, you must use a special armor type in order to do this kind of mounting. Sony carries two different types of dome security cameras and they are a leader in the industry. You can choose from the Verifocal dome camera, which has the highest resolution (420 lines) and an adjustable lens.

You can also purchase Sony’s Infrared Armor dome camera, which acts as a hidden camera and is the most durable of all of the dome cameras. Dome cameras are the most popular security cameras because they are impossible to detect which angle they are viewing unless you are at close range. They come in black or white and they all have adjustable lenses.

The second type of home security camera is the bullet camera. The lens is long and resembles a rifle, which is where the camera finds its name. Bullet cameras are easily visible and can be mounted to a wall or a ceiling. They use a 12V DC voltage, and the power cable should be included when the camera is purchased. Most of these cameras will film in color and then change their resolutions to black and white when the light levels are lower.

The resolution during the day is much better with the bullet security systems, but if you have an alternate form of lighting, like a streetlight, people can sometimes be seen from up to 70 feet away. The most popular brand of bullet security cameras is the SPECO CVC-6805SX, which is color and has a fixed lens of 4mm.

The other home security camera system that is popular in order to secure your business or home is the infrared cameras. These cameras are good if you need to see mainly at night. A main issue with the infrared camera is that it does not do well for residential security. The infrared camera has lights built around the lens in order to make the image look like it was filmed during the day.

Do not confuse the infrared cameras with night vision cameras because the main difference between the two is that the night vision cameras do not have the built in lighting. The most cost efficient infrared security camera is made by Digital Peripheral Solutions and it is the QSVC422 CCD color outdoor camera, which is $137 to $157 depending on where you purchase your system.

People need to feel they have a secure home for different reasons and their measures of security, whether it is a home security camera or one that just sits outside of their business, will vary. However, some people feel the need to have the security of a camera simply because they cannot be in two places at once. If someone is approaching a building and spots a security camera they are less likely to want to take the chance of getting caught, and the possibility that a camera could save your home or business from being violated is worth any possibility of damage.

If you research the options with security camera systems, you will find home security, as well as commercial security, will come in many different prices, models, and capabilities to pick and choose what you want.

There are few reasons why apartments are attractive for criminals. First, they would always have in their mind that they can easily break-in especially that not all tenants have known to their co-tenants. Second, the fact that it’s an apartment would always give them an idea that most of the occupants are all busy at work, thus more chances for intrusions. Third, criminals expect much out of your room (the expensive jewels, appliances, gadgets) tempting them to break-in your doors. Fourth, not all apartments have stand-by security guards to eye the apartment premises or if there is, only a few are deployed, thereby enticing the thieves to break in. These are just some of the horrible instances that could probably alarm you apart from the probable vandalism and car napping instances, which is why putting up apartment security cameras as preventive measure against burglary attacks is more than optional.

Video surveillance cameras do not exactly eliminate security issues in apartments; they just actually help to minimize these cases. This is because crimes seem to be everywhere and apartments are of no exception. In fact, apartments have been the ‘hot spot’ for burglary attacks nowadays. Implementing apartment security cameras could somehow, as what I’ve said, put you at ease. At least if intrusions ever happen, somebody’s eying on them and that it’s going to be very easy to trace the intruders. Security surveillance cameras, like other security systems such as alarm or motion detection systems, are devices dedicated for everybody’s safety. There’s wide selection of these cameras ranging from the analog CCTV camera to wireless, the digital hardwired cameras to IP cameras or remote security cameras, each with varying capabilities and specifications. But most of the apartments, for sure, are still attached to Analog-based CCTV surveillance cameras.

Depending on the needs or what seems to be appropriate, you can opt for wide range of security cameras that will guarantee a real-time security. Among those are the analog-CCTV cameras. This is perfect as apartment security camera for its superiority by performance. This type of camera works the same as to other cameras only that it records your images or videos in analog format and stores them in tapes. The captured analogs then are broadcasted to the monitors enabling the controller to watch who comes in and out. But the much preferred security camera nowadays is the digital ones. Digital security camera is also superb for apartments for its extended capabilities. This type of camera usually touted as IP camera for its capability to automatically send the captured data to remote servers over the internet may it be wirelessly or copper-wired. It is also equipped with remote manageability wherein a person can have a total control and access to the device. For instance, a tenant working 50 miles away from the apartment could still eye on his/her room remotely by getting a PC and have total control to his/her little robot in her/his room. Moreover, a wide variety of designations are also available perfect for apartments. For instance, there are infrared cameras specially designed to track dim places – good for parking spaces. There are also bullet-styled cameras where you can have the best angle of the image without altering it. C-mount security cameras are also good for its zooming capability that could reach more than 35ft. All of these, however, depend on your preferences and requirements.

No homeowner expects a burglary. Here are 3 home security tips that will deter burglars and make your house and/or its contents more secure. One tip is so simple and effective that it is often overlooked. protecthouse.net

Security is the basic need of every person. Security cameras can help you fulfill this basic need.. A security camera can keep an eye on each and every activity that is happening in your absence. Security cameras are implemented in surveillance that may need regular monitoring, like government offices where some confidential data or other precious things are putted and need to be monitored. Other examples include banks, military areas, areas etc.

Currently security cameras are available in different formats that are easy to install and handle. Installation is easy as you can do it by yourself and that will not take much time and also you would save money. Security systems may be wired or wireless and both are easily removable as well.
When purchasing a security camera system you must review all the features that it includes. Few of them that must be there include:

High resolution: The pictures taken by the camera must be clear for making sense otherwise it’s just wastage of time and money to install a security system. The resolution should be high for taking good pictures.

Night time recording: When it comes to outdoor security the camera should be capable of recording pictures or videos in night light. For checking the rating for this functionality you may check the lux rating for the product.

Design: Choose a design that is small enough to hide. You can go for a spy camera for that purpose.

However with today’s advanced technology these security cameras are in the reach of almost every person so get that one and be assured safe.

Code

There are a few different codes that can be used with the unit. A user code will allow anyone using it to arm and disarm the panel. A master code does that and also allows the master code user to change the user code. An installer code will allow the installer to reprogram the panel.

Keypad

This is the input device for the system. The user will input their code into the keypad to turn the device on and off. The installer will use the keypad to program the device. Some keypads can also be used by the user to turn different parts of the system on and off, if it is a zoned or partitioned design.

Monitoring

This is the method by which a monitoring company is notified of a breach. Phone monitoring is the standard. Cellular monitoring, VoIP monitoring and radio monitoring are other methods. Any one or a combination of methods can be programmed into the system.

Zone

Many residential units are zoned designs. Zones divide different sections of the alarmed area, and are usually grouped by room.

Away Arming

The user will away arm the system whenever leaving the property. This turns on all zones of the unit.

Stay Arming

Stay arming will turn on only the perimeter devices of a system, so that a user who is within the perimeter is secure within it, and the system will alert the user if the perimeter is breached.

Handshake

When the device is activated by a security breach, the phone line is seized by the panel and automatically dials out to the security monitoring service and sends a special signal, called a handshake, which alerts the monitoring service.

Partition

When there are different areas of a property that will be alarmed, such as the home and a separate workshop building, and there is only one phone line, the unit is installed with separate partitions so that each area can be turned on and off separately from the other.

Line Seizure

When there is a breach, the unit will seize the phone line and make it unavailable for any other use. This is called line seizure.

Panel

This is the “brains” of any home security system, and will be installed in a place which is only accessible from the inside of the home, usually in a basement or a closet. Communication with the panel is via the keypad.

Surveillance cameras were first used with the space program, to monitor rocket launches. The systems were predominantly used to observe rocket launches. Monitoring systems can be placed in areas unsafe for workers for viewing equipment during operation. Security systems today have redefined law enforcement, and property protection. Today security systems are used as a theft deterrent for businesses and homes. Many larger cities employ the use monitoring equipment to deter crime on the streets, and in some case to identify known criminals.

The use of security-monitoring systems also has an economic impact, as well. When used to monitor warehouses and industrial complexes, security systems have reduced the need for security guards. Monitoring equipment can be installed in conjunction with security gates for visual verification of employees and visitors. Homeowners can also use the systems to see who may be at the front door before opening the door.

Security systems can be hardwired, or they can be wireless systems. The newest in technology employs the use of wireless systems. Multiple buildings can be monitored using the same system. Many homeowners use wireless surveillance cameras to monitor babysitters or nannies. The wireless systems are compatible with many cellular systems, so owners can monitor their home from their phones. Homeowners and businesses alike can monitor their property in real time from any computer, as well.

In the event of a robbery or vandalism, having monitoring equipment can help identify the guilty parties. Burglars many times will avoid places they know have monitoring systems. The systems can be a tremendous deterrent to crime. Many corporations use security-monitoring systems in their offices and warehouses to deter employee theft.

Security monitoring is commonplace in most convenience stores. The systems are installed at fuel pumps to discourage drivers from driving off without paying. Security monitoring has been a tool of law enforcement for many years. Airports and bus terminals all use monitoring systems. The systems can be used in conjunction with ****** recognition software, as well.

Large airports, in particular, international airports will use monitoring systems along with ****** recognition software. Security-monitoring systems can be found in the vast majority of parking lots around the world. The systems main purpose is to deter crime and help law enforcement identify individuals that may have committed crimes. Most parking lot monitoring systems will not be monitored in real time.

Corporations have been forced to use surveillance cameras to prevent litigation. The camera systems monitor employees and clients alike. Employee theft is a problem in many companies, so corporations use surveillance cameras to mitigate loss. Many camera systems can also record audio for future review in the event of an incident.

Security cameras at intersections have reduced traffic accidents in some cases. A vehicles license plate can be recorded if the driver ignores a traffic signal. The driver in some instances will receive the traffic violation in the mail. The camera systems are also used to identify who may have been at fault in a collision, as well.

Surveillance cameras protect families, reduce crime, litigation and reduce property thefts. Cameras are a part of every ones life. Malls, grocery stores, retail stores all use monitoring systems for their customers protection, as well as their own.

Today, with the rising problem of violent crime, a security alarm system or a burglar alarm may be your best solution to protect your family and valuables. While many homes and businesses already have these security alarms systems in place, many people do not. Why? Is it too expensive for the average home owner, perhaps? But, on the other hand, what value can you place on safety? These can be difficult questions for the average person. Let’s take a closer look at security alarm systems and see if we can reach a solution to these and other questions.

How do external Security alarm systems work?

The simplest security alarm systems work on a “broken” circuit concept. These alarms are built into an entrance way, like a door or window, and the way they work is very simple. Electrical current must have a path to flow through. If you break the path, the charge is broken and the current stops. In a closed circuit system, the path that the electricity travels on is closed when a door or window is closed or shut. This means that the electricity can continue to flow from one side to the other. If the door or window is opened, it breaks the path the electricity is traveling on. This signals an alarm to go off. Letting you know a door or window has been opened.

In an open circuit system, the opposite holds true. When you open a door or window with this system it closes the system or flow of electricity and the alarm will go off. Letting you know a door or window is open. Perhaps, by someone you were not expecting. You may want to use a closed circuit, rather then an open one, as a burglar can cut the wires on the open circuit fairly easily.

Some open and closed circuit systems use a magnet embedded in the door or window that lines up with a switch. Others use a spring-driven switch. There are also the switches that are little buttons that are pressed by the pressure of the closed door or window and released when it is opened.

How do interior security alarm systems work?

While circuit alarms can work fairly well to keep an intruder out, what do you do if one gets past the circuit alarms and gets inside? Motion detectors are probably your best defense against an intruder who gets inside.

There are several different types of motion detectors in the world. You see them at work every time you go to the grocery store. They open the door for you. The door works on a radar based motion detector. The little box you see above the door sends out a microwave signal or ultrasonic sound waves. These units then wait for the waves to reflect off of something, usually you, and bounce back. When they bounce off of you, it displaces the reflection in a disturbed pattern and it then opens the door. With this type of security alarm system, the box is in the room and when the pattern is disturbed it send a signal to set off the alarm.

There are many different security alarm systems on the market. Some can be had for around $10 as a DIY project, while others require a specialist to install. The choice is yours on which you choose.
