Everyone should take their home security very seriously. But while many of us rely on that old security latch, we don’t realize that people can still easily break in. Others have a false sense of security with their current deadbolt as well. It is very important that you realize there are a number of different deadbolts and their level of security depends on their installation.
When you first take a look at the deadbolts in your home, you might find that they aren’t fitting snug in the locks that were created for them. You need to take a moment and check your locks. If they weren’t installed by a there is a chance that you aren’t as protected as you thought.
As you look at a standard deadbolt, you will find that properly installed, a criminal will not be able to use a credit card to open the door. In addition, it will take a greater amount of force and attempt on their part to even get into your home. Since this is your first line of defense, you should ensure that it is properly installed. If it even gives slightly, that is enough for the criminal to break in.
To ensure the most effective results from a dead bolt, a residential locksmith should be brought in to install them properly. These highly trained professionals can properly install your deadbolt and have a strong understanding of how to make adjustments that won’t alter the integrity of the lock and keep you secure at the same time. It is important for anyone looking to maintain the security and safety of their family to hire residential locksmith to install their dead bolt.
Of course, while these items are effective while you aren’t at home, they provide you security while you sleep at night as well. There is no worse a scenario then waking up to find out someone has broken into your home. This need not be the case, however, when a deadbolt is added to all your exterior doors it can help protect your family from having an intruder enter the home while you are asleep. If someone does attempt to come in, the noise they make trying to get past these locks will give you time to contact the police. Of course, many criminals won’t put too much effort into trying when they find that a professionally installed deadbolt is on the door that they are attempting to break into.
They key to safety in this case is ensuring that you don’t attempt to install the deadbolt on your own, unless you know exactly what you are doing. An improper installation only opens you and your home up to potential problems, such as easy entry for criminals in your neighborhood. Take your family’s safety under serious advisement and contact a residential locksmith to check your current installation and if needed, to install a lock that will keep you protected from anyone that might try to make entry into your home. It just might be the best decision you can make for you and your family.

They say an expert is someone who takes a subject you understand and makes it confusing. I hope I don’t have the same impact on this subject. Explaining security to your children is something that should be simple, but I have found can be over thought out, making it more confusing then it should be. The simplicity of the subject is that you are responsible for the safety of your children, and if you do nothing to protect them because you think they may be traumatized over something they presently have no fear of, then you are over thinking the subject. I have designed countless home security systems for families that have experienced a break-in. They also thought it could never happen to them.
If you want to discuss traumatized, that is a traumatic experience. Children have a much more difficult time feeling safe again after having had their home broken into then wondering why their parents are installing a home security system. Before I got into the security industry, I personally had to explain to my five year old son why someone would break into our home and steal his bike (among other things). I would have preferred to just explain why we need a security system, and how to use it.
I’m not a psychologist but I have designed home security systems for years and have personally seen the effect of having a home violated, has had on children. Adding security to your home need not add any trauma to your family if you present it in a positive light, security should be treated as a good thing. Children see news all the time as to bad things that happen, even cartoons are filled with bad things happening, so it is not news to them that they need protection. The important thing to consider is how to present it to them. Presenting the need for a home security systems is a matter of making it age appropriate. With younger children you can talk about setting up an invisible force field to protect their family from bad guys, just like the one protecting Batman’s Bat Cave (or whoever is their super hero). Explain how no bad guys can get into your home because of this force field. Your children will take their cues from you and your attitude. By introducing security as something they can relate to it becomes something they like to use. Making it fun takes away all the fears of having a security system.
The other area affecting children is parents with teenagers who think that because their children come and go at all hours, that they will constantly be setting it off. As if for some reason teenagers are not capable of turning off a security system. That is probably the most common response I get for delaying putting in a home security system. It is true that the more people using a security system the more opportunity for false alarms, but a false alarm is not a big deal. It is a much bigger deal to have your home burglarized, or worse. I had one teenage girl who could no longer sleep in her room because of a peeping tom, who she was afraid would come in through a window. Teenage girls are targets of a lot worse things then burglars.
A home security system gives them peace of mind when mom and dad are away. If most false alarms are turned off within 15-20 seconds it won’t even dial the alarm company, if it does dial the alarm company, still no big deal. The alarm company will call, your teenager will give the family password and the alarm is canceled. Teenagers are capable of giving out a password. My daughters trip the alarm every month or so and not once have the police been dispatched. They find it humorous, as I do except when it happens before I wake up in the morning.
Here’s the bottom line; too many bad things happen to families who think that they could never happen to them. I believe the internet has emboldened pedophiles, and that as a result children are at greater danger than ever before. As a parent you’re responsible to protect your family, and one of the greatest tools that you have is a home security system. Don’t over think the subject, get a system and give your children a true sense of security.

Before you install any type of advanced home security system you need to make sure you have completed all the basic home security steps. One of the most important steps is to make sure that you install proper doors for your house. Your doors should be strong enough to provide you with a necessary level of protection and should be hard to impossible to open by someone who is not supposed to do that. There are several other ways to make sure that your doors provide you with a proper level of protection.
The door should be made from a strong material that is hard to break. An internal cover plate can also strengthen your door. You should think about installing a steel plate or door reinforcement plate on the outside, especially in the door lock area. Depending on the material used to build the door, you should make sure that the door is thick enough and the frame is very firm and reliable. The frame should be attached to the wall in such a way that it is securely bolted to the wall and cannot be easily disconnected or pressed inside.
The type of lock that you will be installing depends on your door and on your budget. It is a good idea to protect your home with more then one door lock. The lock should be very hard to pick or to break. You may want to install an electronic door lock in addition to the regular lock or locks. If you have glass windows at the top of your door, you should think about installing a door lock that is located far from those windows, closer to the bottom of the door. This will prevent the burglar from breaking the glass and reaching to the lock from the inside. One of the inside locks should be opened only with a key.
Sliding doors are usually less secure then regular doors. The burglar may try to break into the house by raising the doors from the tracks. You should install some type of equipment that will not allow the doors to be raised. A good example of what type of equipment can be installed is a pin lock or a patio door lock. Also, if the sliding doors are made of glass (the majority of the cases) the burglar may simply try to break the glass and enter the house. When installing sliding doors you should make sure that they are made from an enforced type of glass that is very hard to break. An even better idea is to use the laminated glass since it provides with even more protection and is even harder to break then the enforced type of glass. The alarm security panel (even if it is a dummy alarm) should be seen near the glass door to scare of the burglar and to prevent the burglary attempt.
There are several basic security measures that can enforce your door and provide you with additional protection. The first step is to install a door chain. This will protect you from strangers and prospective bogus callers and will allow you to check an identification of an unknown person who knocked at your door. It is also possible to install a door limiter instead of a door chain for additional level of security. However, installing a peephole will provide you will an even higher level of security as you will no longer have to open your door first before you can see who is outside. You should also be very careful when you are installing letter boxes or name plates. These should be far from the lock and should not provide easy access to the inside of your house.
It is a good idea to install a motion detector light outside near your door. This will allow you to see in advance that someone is approaching your house and will help you to see who that person is even if it is dark outside. The motion detector light can serve a double purpose. It will also light up when your friends, neighbors or family members approach your house and will allow them to see their way and prevent them from falling down in the dark.

Every minute of the day, homes across the United States are broken into. Lives are changed and the sense of peace vanishes. Nobody should feel like that in his or her own house. In order to have true safety and security, everyone should have a high quality alarm system installed in the home.
Those who are in the market for a great alarm system will find many different companies that can provide great alarms and great service. Most of the new systems are a combination of a wired and wireless system. This means that you have the flexibility of a wireless system and the dependability of a wired alarm. It is convenient and efficient no matter the size of your home.
When searching for a great alarm company, you will want to make sure you find one that has 24-hour monitoring. This will ensure that you and your family are protected and safe all the time. The monitoring centers are what make a difference between a good home security company and a bad one.
Some of the best alarm packages even allow for two-way communication with the monitoring center. If someone triggers the alarm in your house, the monitoring center is alerted. They attempt to contact you by phone, and if there is no answer, they dispatch the police. If you happen to trigger the alarm by mistake, by imputing the wrong security code for example, you can simply speak to the people at the monitoring center when they call.
Not all companies have this two-way contact with the monitoring centers. Be sure you know exactly what you are getting when you choose a home security service. Never simply use a service because it is the cheapest one around. Home security is a place you don’t want to scrimp.
Some companies offer services other than just security from a break in or home invasion. You may also have fire monitoring, carbon monoxide monitoring and more. Some of the other popular upgrades include flooding sensors and freezing sensors. The more things you do to keep your family safe the better. All of these services will have someone monitoring them, which really gives you the peace of mind you deserve.
The security systems of today are far more advanced that those that were on the market just a few years ago. No longer do you have to worry about an animal or one of your children triggering an alarm by mistake. In fact, the biggest cause of false alarms is people putting the wrong access code into the system.
Home security systems are easier to use than ever as well. The best type of alarm is often the one that is simplest to use. Some of the best available today can be armed and disarmed with a simple click of a keychain remote.
With a good security system in place, you will feel much better about the safety and security of your family. After all, feeling safe in your own home is a feeling that no one should be without.

Can a house alarm system reduce your home insurance premiums?
The answer is YES! In fact, some insurance companies will lower your insurance premiums between 15%-20% if you install a residential alarm system and fire alarm that contacts the police, fire department or other monitoring stations.
So why will Insurance Companies lower your Home Insurance Premiums if you have a Residential Home Security System?
All insurance companies make an assessment of your premiums based on specific factors such as the contents of your home, your postal code, the structure of your home, deducible you are willing to pay etc. When they analyze these factors, they determine how risky you are put you into a category which determines your premiums. The riskier they think you are, the higher your premiums.
All Insurance companies want to lower their claims because the payouts they make lower their profits. So when they are looking for customers, they want people who are less risky. To them, this means people who have residential alarm systems and fire alarms, there is less of a chance of a break-in or major damage to the property which will mean that there is a lower chance you will make a claim or a large claim.
Essentially, Insurance companies reward those who take care of their belongings. The more secure your property is the less it will cost to insure it.
While most of the factors that determine your home insurance premiums cannot be changed, you do have control over one. It is essential that you purchase a house alarm system to dramatically reduce your home insurance premium.

Having a wireless alarm system in your home is a great idea. These days there are many thefts which occur in people’s homes. Having such an anti-theft system gives you peace of mind, while keeping your family and possessions safe from intruders.
There are many good reasons to have a wireless alarm system installed in your home. It is a sad fact, but there is a lot of crime in the world that we live in. Burglary is common place today, it would seem. There are many families out there who have fallen victim to theft and vandalism. When it comes time to protect your family from theft there are a few options that you have. If you want to have peace of mind you should consider buying a wireless alarm system.
It does not matter where you live. We often hear about burglary no matter what area we live in. You never know when your home might fall victim to a break in. It could happen when you least expect it. There is one thing that is certain, however. You can be sure that if your home is equipped with an alarm system, the thieves are likely to move on to another home. This might not be very good news for those out there who do not own alarm systems. If you are one of the lucky ones who has sucha a theft protection system, you can be sure that you are going to be safe from home invasions. The criminals simply do not bother when they know that there is such a complex system on a property.
You should give a lot of consideration to installing a wireless system in your home. There are many different choices that you have to make when installing a system. Some of the systems that you can have installed cost quite a lot. The price varies greatly, depending on what type of system you are looking to get. Some of the various alarm systems are much more practical than others. Many alarm systems require you to have your home wired. Many systems will need to be hooked up to the telephone line in your home. This can cause problems if your landline should be knocked out for whatever reason. It can be quite messy and often costly to have to wire this system up in your home.
Owning an alarm system can help to reduce the rates that you pay for home insurance. Insurance companies recognize the reduced risk of theft that is associated with having this system installed in a home. When you are buying a wireless anti burglar system you will often experience an even larger reduction in rates.
You can purchase a wireless alarm system that incorporates a two way voice system. If your alarm should be set off for whatever reason, a live operator will use the voice system to speak through a speaker. This will enable the company to check whether or not it was a false alarm. When someone breaks into your home and hears the operator speaking through the system, they will want to get out of there as soon as possible.

Even though most of us consider it’ll by no means arise in our lives, we all know that eventually it could. In America alone, more than a million vehicles are reported ripped off each and every year. This illustrates how widespread this issue has grow to be and if we don’t do anything whatsoever about it, we may possibly end up becoming the next victims.
One of the greatest methods to avoid robbers from stealing a car is to obtain a high quality steering wheel lock. Many of them will set you back close to $100-$200 only so why not spend money on them. You can also take advantage of indicator lights or even wind shield stickers which will provide robbers a chance to recognize that your car has a reliable alarm system.
Of course, there’s no vehicle security device that could protect your automobile 100%. Inexpensive steering wheel locks won’t deter robbers either. A common solution would be to go for more pricey models and acquire ones which are created from excellent quality. This will allow you to defeat thieves very easily.
You are able to also conduct thorough analysis about the many methods that you simply can prevent car theft. It is important to keep in mind that people who are determined to break into your vehicle will locate a way to do so. An anti-theft device will be an excellent way to make it hard for them to steal your vehicle or at least delay it until another person notices what’s taking place.
Security Tracking Devices like LoJack or Onstar can allow you to find a ripped off automobile which results in faster results. Despite the fact that they’re a little more pricey than typical, these GPS products are the most efficient methods of rescuing your vehicle.
Folks also frequently use immobilizers. These operate by halting the car’s motor and gas supply in addition to the transmission or virtually any other crucial part. It essentially stops anyone from driving the automobile. This is often employed by police officers in their ‘bait’ vehicle. It can be much a lot more intricate in contrast to steering wheel locks and can cost anywhere from $90-$600.
Taking the rates and also the capabilities of the unit into consideration would be an excellent way for you to discover the greatest anti-theft device to go for.

In the modern living world having an alarm panel installed in a house is quite a common occurrence. Every house has doors, which not only provide passage into the house but when locked deny access to strangers entering into your property/house. If some-one breaks into your property you need a system that can scream at top of its voice and make your neighbors or you alert of an intrusion. A Burglar alarm would exactly do the job. Let us see how it works.
Alarm panels are connected to detecting devices which are spread out in every room of the house, a keypad is also connected to the alarm panel which can activate/de-activate the alarm panel which is generally installed at a closer distance to your outside door. Before leaving your premises you would type-in the unique code (usually 4 digits) to activate the alarm panel. Once you’ve entered the code there is a delay of 30-60 seconds before the alarm panel activates and this will give you enough time to get out of the door. Once the panel is activated the detection devices will start looking for any movement (usually through Passive Infra-red or Microwave signals) in their vicinity/range. Detection devices usually can look up to a minimum of 10-12 meters. Should there be an intrusion/break-in, the detection devices sense movement and sends the signal through to the alarm panel, which in turn sends a signal to output device, generally an internal or external siren. The panel is now in an alarm state and can only be stopped when a deactivation code is entered through the keypad or when it is timed out (usually after about 10 min, this can be manually set in some panels).
Each detection device will occupy a Zone in the panel. There are panels available from 2 zones, on some panels the zones can be expanded, but most of the entry level panels are restricted to zones that they already have. There are different types of detection devices that can be used viz., Alarm Sensors on the wall, Door/Window sensors, Glass Break detectors. we will try to cover these products in detail in future.
