The alarm system that detects water might just save the lives of hundreds or even thousands of passengers aboard the ship.

The invention of alarm systems is really a breakthrough. It helps everyone to guard their belongings. Alarm systems are like security guards.

The only difference is that they just do not sleep while they are on duty because they are programmed to do their jobs in securing the safety of something by triggering an alarm to warn people of the coming threat or danger.

Today with the increasing number of cases of stalking, theft, **** and murder, you do not need to be a celebrity or a millionaire to secure your home. While some essential security devices like alarm systems and electronic door locks are affordable, products like electronic sensors, surveillance cameras may be costly for a middle class householder. However, the pressing security demands that you do something to scare the criminals. The answer lies in dummy cameras.

Dummy cameras will scare would-be trespassers and criminals enough for them to leave your home alone. These cameras look exactly like the real ones. There is no difference in these cameras and the real ones except that these are not cameras at all. They look like the real ones and are priced as low as $25-$30. Most of the dummy cameras have cables to give the feeling that it has a connection to a control room where the camera shows on screen whatever image it catches. Some dummy cameras are so designed that they move along with the movement of the object in front of it. The focal lengths printed on the camera lenses, cables and sturdy look can deceive anyone into thinking that these are the real CCTV cameras.

The trick in buying dummy CCTV cameras is that you should be careful that they do not look like dummy cameras. There are dummy cameras that have real camera housing minus the electronics. These cameras really give the real look of a security camera. An original security surveillance camera would be the same when its electronic components are removed. Therefore, an outsider will not have the slightest doubt that it is a dummy CCTV camera. The flashing red LED adds to the authenticity of the dummy CCTV cameras.

Dummy security cameras can fit on the interior of your home as well as mounted on the exterior. There are dummy security cameras that imitate popular companies, which build replicas of their popular models. Shops could use these dummy security cameras and would be an added asset in many cases especially in high robbery areas. Dummy cameras pan from left to right upon detecting movement in front it, so any would-be criminal will think he is being watched. That’s enough to scare a prospective robber. Much like real surveillance cameras dummy security cameras can be mounted on roofs like dome cameras.

Whatever the variety and model that exist in the market for real surveillance cameras, dummy security cameras are there with the same exact look and feel. At low cost and virtually no maintenance these cameras are of great help in averting theft, trespassing and even serious crimes.

Burglary is a phenomenon: thieves seem to discover each day new ways of violating our homes. There are so many countries where people live each day with the fear that when they come back from work they might find their homes burglarized. Police cannot do much and many burglars go on unpunished. Burglary represents for thieves an easy way to make money. Most of them will not bother to develop scenarios for complicated burglary, unless the target can bring them the “queen’s diamond”. So the burglars look for homes with easy access. Therefore, the best thing you can do to minimize the risk of having your house on the burglars’ list, is to make it difficult to enter. To do this you need to fortify your entrances, secure the windows, employ good lighting and use reliable alarm systems.

Fortify Your Entrance Points

Although they don’t look very pretty and bring a “heavy look”, metal entrance doors transform your home into a difficult target. Most burglars do not possess the skills we see in movies. If a house is too difficult to burglarize, they will simply avoid it. Statistic, housebreakers prefer to enter via the garage door. Followed by the back door, the garage door is known to be the most accessible point of entry in a house. For this reason do not use metal doors solely to fortify your main entrance, but to secure all the other points of entry as well. Remember: a door with a wooden jamb is very easy to kick open. Fortify such entrances and make sure to use quality locks that resist lock-picking attempts for all your doors.

Secure All Accessible Windows

Despite the common belief, burglars are not intimidated by the daylight. Statistic, most of the break-in incidents happen during the daytime, when people are away at work. An open window is an invitation. Do lock your windows when you are away from home. Windows with latches are very easy to slide open, that’s why you should use secondary blocking devices that will discourage burglars. Usually housebreakers prefer ground floor windows and windows that are accessible from a balcony, fence or a stair. When you secure the windows make sure burglars cannot reach and remove the blocking device. If you have an alarm system in your home, connect it to the accessible windows as well.

Use Lighting to Show Signs of Activity at Night

When away from home in a business trip or in vacation, make sure your home will not stay darken night after night. To avoid sending such an invitation to the thieves, use light timers. The light timers can be also used to turn on and off lights, radio and TV sets that will intensify the false impression of occupancy.

Don’t undervalue the importance of exterior lighting. Since burglars do not want to be seen or identified, good exterior lighting will discourage them to come near your home. For this purpose use security lights with infrared motion detectors.

Use Reliable Alarm Systems

Burglars do not want to be caught, that’s why most of them will bypass a home with visible alarm signs. An alarm system is effective and reliable when properly installed and maintained. Take care of your alarm code and don’t write it in visible places. Your purpose is to make it difficult for burglars to break in into your home and not to make their job easy.

A wireless boat alarm system offers ease in operation, a weather-resistant construction, and a reliable means for monitoring a potential theft, as well as temperature and high water related problems.

In searching out a boat security system it’s essential to find a system that’s designed to function in the often harsh marine environment, as opposed to a low-cost or modified home or car alarm. These modified systems will soon succumb to the adverse conditions at sea.

A security or monitoring system onboard a boat can activate as a result of changes in temperature in a engine room or cabin, a change in audio levels or motion, or due to high water. A boat owner can receive communication of an alarm being set-off via a portable tool, such as a laptop, PDA device, or mobile phone.

Components to these systems often include a sensor to detect a change in a pre-determined low and high threshold in an engine room’s temperature, a strobe light and siren to detect movement as a result of an unwanted guest, as well a bilge water height sensor to identify water entering a hull.

For a complete boat security package its also an option to invest in a plug and play deck sensor, canvas sensor, dock disconnect monitor, or a key-pad remote alarm to be installed in moments on all classes or watercraft.

In addition to a heightened level of security, these alarm systems can result in a reduction in the annual cost of insurance from some of the marine insurers, due to a greater degree of protection. A discount of 10 – 15% is often seen to be available.

Whether is a small sailboat, a trailerable houseboat, or a luxurious motor-driven yacht a high-tech security system offers a perfect solution for securing an often prized possession in a safe environment.

There have been security systems in place since the moment there was a need to protect one’s property. Early security systems were things like high walls and moats. Of course, technology has given us many more options than just walls and moats, but is it necessary to take advantage of all the technological advancements, or is a simple unmonitored alarm system enough?

Technology allows us to have a company monitor our wired or wireless alarm system from a different location. This allows them to notify the homeowner as soon as a break-in occurs, and even notify the police if necessary. It all sounds good, but there is a catch. You have to pay that company a monthly fee for them to continue their monitoring service, meaning your home security system becomes a never-ending expense.

As a home owner, you also have the option of installing a security system that is not monitored by anybody. Instead, the alarm simply sounds a loud, audible alarm when the home security system detects an intruder. But is that enough?

Even a sign that declares that there is a home security alarm system installed can deter some would be criminals from breaking into your home. However, it won’t stop all of them. A sign claiming that the unmonitored system is actually a monitored alarm system can deter a few more. The big deterrence of an unmonitored alarm, though, is the loud, audible siren that sounds off during a breach of security. Most burglars will assume that somebody was just notified, or that someone nearby can hear the alarm, and they will almost always choose to flee the scene so that they don’t get caught in the act.

There is a problem, though. The assumption that the system is actually monitored is based on the fact that most security systems are. If everybody chose to go with unmonitored alarms, this assumption would fade, and it would remove the best deterrent an unmonitored alarm system can offer. Furthermore, unless you are actually at home to hear the alarm go off, a deterrent is all an unmonitored alarm system can be. Since most people are not at home the majority of the day, it is quite understandable if a simple deterrent is not enough to make someone feel safe.

So, as a result, a homeowner must consider what they really want. A simple, one-time cost for a pretty powerful deterrent or an ongoing cost for instant personal and police notification in case the deterrent aspect fails to work? Most of the time, a simple deterrent will be enough, but are you willing to bet on “most of the time”? Some will gladly do so to save money, and some will emphasize the most protection in the worst case scenario possible despite any additional costs.
